Browsing the Web with ChatGPT Atlas
This guide covers everyday browsing: searching the web, moving around the UI, managing tabs, filling forms, downloading files, using map and travel views on the web, switching profiles, using saved payment info, and sending feedback.
Search the web and on-page
Address bar search
- Click the address bar, type a query, then press Return.
- In a new tab, select one of the links below the prompt window.
- Use the suggestions below the bar to jump directly to sites or previous search terms.
- To search with a different engine, type its shortcut (for example, "duckduckgo.com kittens") or set your default in Settings → Search engine.
Find on page
- Press Command + F.
- Type a word or phrase.
- Use the up/down arrows to move between matches.
Find your way around Atlas

Pin, mute, and move
- Right-click a tab to pin critical tabs (they shrink and stay left-justified), mute noisy sites, or move tabs to another window.
Fill out forms with autofill
Atlas can save and autofill your addresses, passwords, and payment cards.
-
Turn autofill on or off
Open Settings, select Web Browsing, then choose Addresses, Passwords, or Payment methods to update their autofill settings. -
Addresses
Add, edit, or remove addresses. -
Passwords and passkeys
- Offer to save passwords; view, edit, or remove saved entries.
- Use passkeys on supported sites for password-less sign-in.
-
Payment methods
- Save card details locally to autofill checkout forms.
- Wallet buttons (for example, PayPal, Shop Pay) are provided by websites.
If you choose Never for a site when prompted to save a password, you can later remove that site from the "never save" list in Password settings.
Download files
- Click a download link or button.
- The downloads indicator appears as a pop-up in the bottom-right of the page.
- Click the file's path in the indicator, or in the downloads list in Settings to open it.
You can change the Downloads location by opening your Settings, selecting Web Browsing, and clicking on Downloads location.
Switch between ChatGPT workspaces
If you are a member of a ChatGPT workspace and also have a personal account, you can switch between them by clicking your profile in the top-right of the browser and selecting your workspace.
Please note that different workspaces contain different ChatGPT settings, memories, and content.
